I've been officially open in Sufa for less than two weeks.
I've had ten unique people join the project for at least a few days. The house feels alive. I'm beginning to enjoy myself.
We took an empty, dirty apartment and made it comfortable. (I personally removed two dead birds).
I bring volunteers and they put their strength to whatever tasks I ask of them. Then they cook and clean and ask if they can help more.
We cleaned out eight apartments in Kibbutz Sufa so they can be inspected for damage.
In Moshav Dekel the public gathering space had been used as emergency bunking for soldiers. We helped finish the cleanup and repainting. We went to a five year old’s birthday party that Friday night.
In Moshav Yevul, we freed avocado trees from choking weeds and collected used fly traps from a clementine orchard. Another day we helped out in a nursery of exotic trees.
Tomorrow we are going to help pick Daniel's passionfruit in Moshav Talmei Yosef. And two (or three?) more volunteers are arriving. I'm already turning people away for next week.
I am so glad you are enjoying yourself! And even feeling a rush on a power high, let's be honest ... which you have totally earned and totally deserve!!! As my generation used to say, More Power To You!!!
You are doing important work!
